‘Miracle’: Man pulled from rubble four days after Venezuelan quakes

So a 21-year-old man gets pulled alive from the rubble of an apartment building in La Guaira, Venezuela, and suddenly we’re supposed to celebrate like it’s a miracle? Look, while I’m all for stories of hope, the media’s obsession with sensationalism around disasters makes me question what they’re really after. CNN and MSNBC are going to milk this for every last drop, focusing on emotional narratives while conveniently leaving out the systemic failures and governance issues that got us here in the first place!

What happened to accountability? Instead of pulling back the curtain on how corrupt leadership exacerbates such tragedies, they’ll likely paint this as a “feel-good” tale, spinning it to distract us from the real underlying problems. Fox News, with its tendency to sensationalize, will probably jump in to critique the government, but somehow skirt around offering real solutions or deeper analyses. They love to blame the usual suspects, but how about focusing on solutions instead of merely fanning the flames of outrage?

This is where independent journalism needs to step up. Let’s not just cheer for survival stories while ignoring vital questions: why did so many lives have to be risked in the first place? Why does the building infrastructure crumble under pressure? Let’s demand more from our media instead of allowing them to serve us half-baked narratives that pander to our emotions while avoiding the weighty truths beneath the wreckage.
