Factory fire kills at least 28 in China’s ‘shoe capital’, state media reports

As we witness huge flames engulfing yet another building and thick, black smoke spiraling into the sky, one has to wonder: where’s the outrage, and more importantly, where’s the accountability? Mainstream outlets like CNN and MSNBC are all too quick to sensationalize these stories, but they seem to conveniently forget the real narratives often lurking beneath the surface. Instead of focusing on cause and accountability, they’re more interested in fanning the flames—literally and figuratively—to push their narratives of fear and chaos.

Meanwhile, Fox News will undoubtedly take the quick route, framing it as a symptom of societal failure, leveraging the visuals for their own agenda. They thrive on division, using disasters like this one to prop up their fear-mongering. And let’s not forget the glorification of tragedy, where the story often becomes about ratings rather than responsibility.

Real journalism should dig deeper. It should explore why these buildings are ablaze, what safety measures were ignored, and who is culpable for this disaster. Instead, we get a spectacle—a media circus that distracts us from tackling the systemic issues at hand. It’s all about clicks and views, not the truth. As fire rages, we shouldn’t be just spectators; we must demand more from our media. The public deserves insights, not clickbait sensationalism.
