We’re staring down the barrel of a new viral crisis, with 1,587 deaths reported and an alarming absence of any approved vaccine or treatment. Yet, what are we hearing from the mainstream media? Just more of the same fear-mongering and hollow reassurances from networks like CNN and MSNBC that seem far more interested in generating clicks than disseminating crucial, actionable information. These outlets love to sensationalize statistics while providing zero context about the actual effectiveness of public health measures or the lack of real solutions.
On the other side, you have Fox News, where the narrative often leans toward skepticism of government response. Yet, they too fall victim to playing the blame game without offering tangible alternatives. All this while keeping the audience in a constant state of anxiety. Why? Because fear sells, and it subtly nudges people toward compliance with whatever government solutions they’re peddling next.
We can’t allow ourselves to be easily swayed by narratives that prioritize sensationalism over genuine concern for public health. If major media outlets cared about the truth, they would dive deeper into what’s really behind the continued absence of effective treatments or vaccines. But instead, they’d rather keep us glued to our screens watching an endless loop of urgency without answers. It’s time to demand more from those who claim to inform us—because fear can’t be our only reaction.
