We’re seeing another example of corporate media’s glaring double standards and selective outrage. A new UN report highlighting the systemic killings, detentions, and psychological trauma faced by Palestinian children should be front-page news across networks like CNN and MSNBC. But guess what? They’re busy distracting us with pet issues or scandalous gossip, choosing instead to bury a report that should have the world on fire. Why? Because the establishment prefers to keep the narrative tight and tidy rather than face the uncomfortable truths that challenge their chosen agendas.
Meanwhile, Fox News, with its customary bravado, is likely to use this report to fuel further polarization without addressing the humanitarian crisis at hand. Polarization sells, folks. It fuels outrage and keeps viewers glued to the screen. But at what cost? The children suffer, and the focus remains on politically charged rants. When are we going to demand accountability from these media giants?
And don’t even get me started on social media. Influencers and activists can amplify the issue, but they often prioritize viral moments over nuanced discussion. They’ll shout slogans but shy away from the hard questions that need to be asked. Why aren’t more prominent voices calling for accountability from our leaders and the media that blindly follow them?
If anything is clear, it’s that this coverage is not just incomplete; it’s deliberately misleading. The mainstream is more concerned about preserving their narratives than shining a spotlight on the blatant injustices faced by powerless children. If you want the truth, don’t look to the talking heads; look deeper.
