When state-backed Ashura events portray figures like Qassem Soleimani and other so-called martyrs killed by the U.S. and Israel, mainstream media gobbles it up, serving narratives straight from the Iran playbook without even a hint of skepticism. Outlets like CNN and MSNBC will swoon over this glorification of martyrdom, framing these leaders as victims of Western aggression, while they conveniently ignore the fact that these “martyrs” were often responsible for countless acts of violence and destabilization.
Isn’t it rich? While the leftist media brigade fiercely condemns American patriotism as jingoistic, they have no problem romanticizing radical leaders aligned with extremist ideologies. Conversely, when Ashura events showcase the sacrifice of Imam Hussein, a revered figure in Shiite Islam, they fail to highlight the complexities of martyrdom in modern geopolitics. Instead, they push a simplified narrative of good vs. evil, leaving out crucial context.
Fox News, for all its flaws, at least sometimes provides a counterpoint to this glorification by exposing the connections between these events and regimes that wreak havoc. Yet, hoping for a fair and balanced take on the subject from liberal networks is like expecting a cat to fetch your slippers. The disconnect is astonishing, and the biases glaring.
It’s time for media consumers to wake up! Stop getting spoon-fed narratives slathered in shiny rhetoric. Question what you’re being told and recognize the agenda behind the coverage. When state-sponsored events like these are so expertly manipulated for propaganda, it’s our duty to dissect the lies.
