Ahmed al Ahmed, a hero in the making, tackled one of the gunmen responsible for the brutal massacre of 15 innocent individuals at a Jewish event back in December. So what do we see from outlets like CNN and MSNBC? A shrug and a shift in focus. Instead of praising his bravery, they bury the lead in a sea of victimhood and identity politics, as if framing this act of heroism as a mere subplot in a larger narrative of violence against Jewish communities. Instead, they should be spotlighting al Ahmed’s courage, but that doesn’t fit the manufactured narrative they love to peddle.

Fox News, meanwhile, is quick to sensationalize the incident for clicks; they’d rather spotlight the horror than the heroism. They’ll drone on about the gunman’s motivations while glossing over the nuances of Ahmed’s life-saving actions. It’s almost as if they can’t see past their own agendas. Everyone wants a piece of a gripping story, yet they’re veering off course by neglecting the importance of unity against violence.

Ultimately, the establishment media will twist themselves into knots to either vilify or trivialize events like this. While they obsess over infighting and discord among communities, Ahmed shows us what real bravery looks like. Mainstream media, take note: this is the narrative worth amplifying, not just the sensationalized bloodshed. We need more heroes like al Ahmed, and we don’t need your spin to tell us that.
