Burkina Faso severs diplomatic ties with France

Let’s call a spade a spade: the West African junta is laying down the gauntlet, accusing France of sabotaging national interests. And what’s the response from the usual suspects in corporate media like CNN and the BBC? Instead of providing a real analysis, they regurgitate jargon-laden narratives that completely miss the underlying story. It’s the same playbook, folks! Distract and obfuscate while painting these regimes as “dictatorial” for daring to challenge the neo-colonial strings tugging them around.

Where’s the balanced reporting on the fact that these countries are finally awakening to the exploitation they’ve endured for decades? CNN focuses on the “human rights” aspect while neatly ignoring how France’s meddling has led to instability in the region. Meanwhile, the BBC loves an opportunity to brand any anti-colonial sentiment as “populist” and dangerous, painting a black-and-white picture—which fits their agenda perfectly. It’s all a part of the establishment’s strategy to demonize any leader who attempts to liberate their country from foreign interference!

It’s tiring to see narratives shaped not by facts but by the interests of media giants beholden to political elites. The media’s framing minimizes a complex geopolitical struggle into a simplistic villain-victim narrative, just to avoid questioning their own biases and the historical context they conveniently gloss over. In a world rife with misinformation, we can’t afford to let this hollow reporting define the discourse.
