Druski Under Fire After SZA, Doechii Played Off Stage at BET Awards

So here we have Druski, everyone’s favorite comedian, belting out a saxophone gag that ended up hitting all the wrong notes at the BET Awards. Meanwhile, Terrence “Punch” Henderson, TDE’s President, is calling this nonsense out as a disrespectful move against SZA and Doechii. I mean, just how low can we go in the name of “entertainment”? This isn’t just a case of bad jokes; this is corporate media spinning narratives that sacrifice real talent for the sake of views and clicks.

It’s telling how mainstream outlets like CNN and even hip-hop-oriented platforms have largely ignored the fallout—choosing to brush aside the criticism from Punch and instead focus on Druski’s comedic ambitions. Could it be that defending the sanctity of this art form doesn’t suit their agenda? Or maybe they think marginalized voices in hip hop just don’t matter as much as clicks and ratings?

BET should know better. They’ve built a platform that amplifies Black excellence, yet they allow a potentially damaging gag to unfold. Are we seriously supposed to be okay with the excuse that it’s “just comedy”? When will we wake up and recognize that these so-called “funny moments” often come at the expense of real artists trying to make a name for themselves? It’s time to call out this inappropriate pandering as nothing more than cheap theatrics designed to serve corporate interests rather than the authenticity within hip hop.
