Indian police accused of using pellet guns in crackdown on India’s protests

Let’s call it what it is: a blatant display of authoritarianism cloaked in the guise of maintaining order. Recent videos showing police using pellet guns on protesters during India’s student protest movement deserve more than a passing mention; they demand outrage. Yet, where’s the outrage from the likes of CNN or NBC? Instead, they drown it out with half-hearted commentary that distracts from the truth. Why? Because it doesn’t fit their carefully curated narrative of ‘social harmony’ versus ‘chaos.’

While the mainstream media feigns concern for civil rights, they conveniently gloss over the brutality inflicted on young activists pushing back against a corrupt establishment. They’d rather highlight the “disruptive nature” of the protests instead of exposing the real menace: the state’s violent repression. It’s as if these networks are on the payroll of the powers that be, prioritizing a shiny narrative over hard truths.

In contrast, independent commentators are diving in, shedding light on the urgency of this moment and calling out the hypocrisy of an establishment that champions democracy on the surface but pulls the trigger when it threatens their comfort. Social media platforms teem with unfiltered footage, while corporate media stays busy crafting a narrative that supports their advertisers and keeps their anchors cozy.

Folks, if we don’t step back and demand accountability from our media, we’re complicit in silencing those fighting for their rights. This isn’t just about India; it’s a global battle against state power. Get loud, get informed, and please, stop letting the narrative be controlled by the very entities that fear the truth.
