But, surprise—here come the narratives that twist this success story into a cautionary tale. Instead of applauding a seasoned talent proving it’s never too late, they gloss over his achievements to fit a narrative that praises youth and trendy superficial successes.

Mainstream media seems to thrive on the idea that unless you’re a millennial sensation, your achievements are just less relevant. Look at how they inflate stories around young artists while brushing over mature voices who’ve worked tirelessly, only to be pigeonholed into underdog status, as if their accolades are somehow diminished by age. Even Fox News, in their coverage, might frame his win as surprising, suggesting that older artists are “unexpected” winners, perpetuating a bias against age and experience.
