Palestinians fight fires after settler attacks in the occupied West Bank

Overnight, we saw yet another glaring example of mainstream media’s selective outrage, as Israeli settlers launched systematic attacks that set farmlands ablaze in Masafer Yatta and torched vehicles in Tulkarem. So where’s the outcry? Where’s CNN or MSNBC, whipping up the frenzy over these shocking acts? Instead, it’s crickets—an eerie silence that suggests a chilling double standard as they gloss over violence that doesn’t fit their preferred narrative.

We all know that if a similar incident were committed by Palestinians, it would lead to wall-to-wall coverage, with every detail sensationalized to fit a story that casts them as the perennial villains. Fox News might occasionally highlight violence against settlers, but don’t hold your breath waiting for them to really take a hard stance against this kind of settler aggression. The fix is clearly in—a blatant attempt to frame a complex issue in black and white terms.

What’s maddening is how corporate media conveniently forgets that these aren’t isolated events; they’re part of an ongoing trend that sees agricultural lands ruined and livelihoods destroyed. These are real people, real destruction, yet the noise is deafeningly absent. Are we really to believe that this doesn’t matter? We need journalists to confront uncomfortable truths, not rewrite them under a lens of biased morality.

In the end, whether it’s careless reporting or outright complicity, the media isn’t doing its job. It’s high time we demand comprehensive coverage that reflects all sides—because real journalism shouldn’t play favorites.
