Here we go again. The Russian navy is shipping weapons to Mali to help their government fend off a rebel advance, and you can bet that the mainstream media will twist this into a tale of villainy. Out comes CNN with its predictable script, painting Russia as the new boogeyman while conveniently ignoring the messy history we’ve created in Africa. These are the same folks who’ll tell you that regime change is a noble cause but won’t touch the fact that the U.S. has been meddling in these regions, leaving devastation in its wake.
And let’s not even get started on how Fox News might frame this: they’ll likely spin it as Russia trying to expand its influence, yet will forget to mention how they themselves are cheerleading for unchecked American intervention everywhere from the Middle East to Latin America. It’s a classic case of “do as I say, not as I do.” The hypocrisy is thick, and it’s clearly apparent that the aim is to distract you from recognizing the real motives behind these military shipments.
Both ends of the corporate media spectrum are more concerned about keeping us divided than providing any sensible analysis of international affairs. The truth? Mali is fighting its battles with international actors, and the narrative should focus on the complexities of alliances, not just good versus evil. Don’t buy into the establishment’s one-dimensional view; question everything, especially when it comes from outlets that have a history of spinning narratives to fit agendas.
