Just days after signing a memorandum of understanding, the US and Iran have traded strikes, and the corporate media is spinning this like a merry-go-round. Networks like CNN and MSNBC might as well be running a soap opera script with how they handle serious geopolitical events—framing the narrative to fit their agenda while glossing over the reality on the ground. You’ve got CNN suggesting this all is a failure of diplomacy, when in reality, they’re just amplifying the age-old Democratic talking points that ignore the facts.
Meanwhile, Fox News is bending over backward to sell the idea that this is solely Biden’s fault, as if previous administrations’ extensive roles in the region were just footnotes. They love a scapegoat. Always will. But let’s not pretend that the US hasn’t been playing puppeteer in this region since long before any of us were born. Both sides of the aisle love wars for profit, and mainstream outlets are happy to help them sell that narrative.
Look, the truth is simple: both of these narratives are painfully simplistic and disingenuous. Iran isn’t just the villain that the narratives want us to believe. And the US isn’t the innocent bystander either. This is a complex geopolitical tango, and the only ones profiting from this conflict are those cozying up to Defense Contractors and gas companies. It’s time we push back against the spin and demand real answers from our so-called leaders and the media that feeds us these warped views.
